Engineering E. coli for de novo production of gatekeeper flavanones

Published in Synthetic Biology here we report the development of our E. coli production chassis for the key gatekeeper flavonoids: Naringenin, pinocembrin, eriodictyol and homoeriodictyol. We also demonstrate the first example of in vivo production of homoeridictyol directly from glycerol. This work provides a springboard for future production of diverse downstream natural and non-natural flavonoid targets. Paper link
